<image:title>Artist Dolls of Fantasy Characters - Alice and the Frog Gardener - Private Collection</image:title>
<image:caption>“…which bell must I ring?’ she went on, very much puzzled by the names. ‘I’m not a visitor, and I’m not a servant. There ought to be one marked “Queen,” you know---’ Alice knocked and rang for a long time, but at last, a very old Frog, who was sitting under a tree, got up and hobbled slowly towards her: he was dressed in bright yellow, and had enormous boots on. ‘What is it now?,’ the frog said in a deep hoarse whisper.” - Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There by Louis Carroll Alice is 8.5" high without her crown and is made of a strong mix of polymer clay. She is clothed in fine Swiss batiste and antique lace, with handmade leather high button boots. The frog is wearing clothes of velvet, Japanese kimono fabric, Danish cotton check, and silk jacquard. He has handmade leather boots and carries a small rake made by the artist. The handmade stand echoes the Tenniel illustration from "Through the Looking Glass" and is also made by the artist.</image:caption>

She is primarily associated with fate as a crow flying over the battle field. The figure is made of a strong mix of polymer clay, with hand painted eyes, and hair of mohair. Her costume corset is polymer clay with gauze skirt panels. The crow helmet is polymer clay and feathers. The staff top is a polymer clay crow skull. Her knife is polymer, faux pearl and golden wire wrap. The sandals are leather and golden thread. If standing the figure would measure 12”. The figure with stand is 11” in height. <image:title>Artist Dolls of Fantasy Characters - The Spirit Puppet - SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>This figure is inspired by those of the Hyakki Dondoro Group, founded by Master Hoichi Okamoto in 1974. I’ve been fascinated by the life-sized puppets and masks he created. Often the puppeteer plays a character interacting with the puppet. The word “hyakki” means “unlimited spirits,” the idea that the puppet is a vessel that receives the human spirit. The puppeteer is 11” high and completely handmade by me of polymer clay. The clothing is fine silk and cotton. The obi is vintage. The cord is kumihimo braid hand woven by me. She has a mohair wig. The puppet has silk hair and is wearing a kimono made of Japanese silk.</image:caption>
